Coming from Europe, it is strange/interesting to see how little time your country and the US have been countries.
Where I come from, an island in the North Sea, the oldest grave site is 4 1/2 thousand years old – it is a Viking grave; and the oldest building still used as a dwelling, a beautiful dwelling was built in1190.
Our houses all have the year they were built prominently displayed

I visited Italy, France and Spain last year and found the age overwhelming. It was also very humbling as nothing that’s built over here will be around two to three thousand years from now.

Yes, that revelation is a sad one. But that’s also what it’s all about here: Never stand still, always renew, don’t stop, tear it down and rebuild it, grow, grow, grow.
